MicMacs a Tire-Larigot

English Title: Micmacs
Jean-Pierre Jeunet, France, 2009, imdb
Review: 4.0 Uchuvas
Comment: I guess as a follower of Jeunet's films (Delicatessen, the city of Lost Children, Amelie, A very long Engament), I can't give less that 4 Uchuvas to this film. I would have given less than four but I just can't with this director. His films (including this one) are cleaver, "light" and beautifully made! I liked better the other films (except Delicatessen that I didn't like that much) but his style is there, his magic is there and the colors (the same beloved green and red colors) are there!! I think this guy has a great style that he has been able to keep during his films without loosing originality in each one of them.

Un long dimanche de fiancailles

English Title: A Very Long Engagement
Jean-Pierre Jeunet, France, 2004, imdb
Review: 4.5 Uchuvas
Comment: I was avoiding this film for so long that I can't believed I finally gave it a chance. In general, I try to avoid "love stories" with happy cheap endings; that's why I didn't want to see this film which in any case has a "cheap ending". I was happily surprise for a lot of reasons. The first one is that I should have seen it considering that it was a Jeunet film. Second the photography was amazing!! really really amazing! it's a pleasure just to see the film for this reason; and third, the actors, all of them, are just great! Have a go! don't put it aside as I did!!!

Delicatessen

English Title: Delicatessen
Marc Caro - Jean Pierre Jeunet, France, 1991, imdb
Review: 3.5 Uchuvas
Comment: I'm sorry for the Caro-Jeunet's lovers, I really don't know why I didn't like their super Delicatessen movie. What I did like from the film thou was: Dominique Pinon's acting, he's great (as he's in The City of Lost Children and Amelie). I loved the color. The scenography was superb! and the coustoms were a great complement (or vs). Maybe I wasn't in the mood for this movie when I saw it. I'll have another go in future as the movie has so many great reviews. If you haven't seen it, have a look! it's a French icon film!
